Description
This bone broth recipe combines roasted chicken carcass with fresh vegetables and herbs, simmered for 24 hours, resulting in a flavorful, nutrient-rich broth perfect for soups and health benefits.
INGREDIENTS
Serves 4 people

Apple Cider Vinegar | 1 tbsp | |
Basil | 1/4 bunch | |
Carrot | 1/2 | large, chopped |
Celery | 1/2 stalk | chopped |
Chicken Carcass | 1/2 | roasted with meat removed |
Garlic | 1/4 | |
Ginger | 1/4 inch | |
Onion | 1/4 | sliced |
Black Pepper | 1/2 tsp | |
Rosemary | 1/2 sprig | |
Salt | 1/2 tbsp | |
Sage | 1/2 sprig | |
Turmeric | 1/2 tbsp | |
Zucchini | 1/4 | medium, chopped |
PREPARATION
- Place bones in a large stock pot and fill with filtered water until bones are just covered.
- Add apple cider vinegar and let sit for 30 minutes.
- Bring water to a boil and skim off any foam that comes to the top. This foam consists of impurities.
- Add all chopped vegetables except for garlic and herbs, leave this until the last 30 minutes of simmering.
- Cover pot, reduce heat to very low and leave simmering for 24 hours.
- Strain the broth of bones and veggies.
- Store in airtight containers in the fridge if you plan to consume within the week or put in freezer to save for later use.
SUGGESTIONS
- You can use any animal bones to make bone broth, I prefer chicken myself.
- Make sure you have roasted any bones you put in your broth first as it imparts more flavor in the finished stock.
- I usually roast a chicken for dinner and freeze the carcass. Once I make another roast chicken, usually the following week I place both carcasses in my stock pot and begin making my broth.
- Bone broth is an incredible health tonic, it can strengthen bones and joints, regulate hormone imbalances and boost your immunity.
- I drink this as an elixir when I’m ill and often feel better more quickly.
- I use this broth as a base for every soup I make.
- I also use this broth to make rice, quinoa, lentils, beans, sauteed vegetables, you name it. Bone broth imparts an incredible depth of flavor and a boost of added nutrients. I can’t recommend it enough!
