Jeff Rothschild, RD, PhD is a highly respected performance nutritionist and researcher with a deep expertise in sports nutrition. He is the author of several influential courses on humanOS, including Going Slow to Go Fast and Female Sports Nutrition, as well as the Ergogenic Aid How-to Guide, which is largely based on a review paper he published. Jeff’s work focuses on optimizing nutrition strategies for athletes and active individuals, helping them achieve peak performance through evidence-based practices.
Currently, Jeff serves as a Performance Nutritionist at High Performance Sport New Zealand, where he has been making significant contributions since December 2022. In this role, he works with elite athletes to enhance their nutrition and performance outcomes. Jeff is also the founder of Eatsleep.fit, a nutrition consulting practice he has led since 2014, providing personalized dietary guidance to clients seeking to improve their health, fitness, and athletic performance.
Jeff earned his PhD from the Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand (SPRINZ), where he conducted groundbreaking research on the periodization of carbohydrate availability for endurance training, with a particular focus on pre-training intake. His academic work is highly regarded, and he continues to contribute to the field through his ongoing research and publications.
Before his current roles, Jeff gained extensive experience as a Sports Dietitian at TriFit Performance Center, where he worked for nearly a decade. He also co-founded Ai Reload, a company dedicated to innovative recovery solutions for athletes. Additionally, Jeff has taught sports nutrition as part-time faculty at California State University-Los Angeles and served as an Assistant Tennis Coach at Cal State L.A. Athletics.
In a unique aspect of his career, Jeff spent a decade as a recording engineer in Los Angeles, working with top-tier artists such as Bon Jovi, Santana, Rod Stewart, Sheryl Crow, and Sting.
